The perfect romantic destination - an historic Italian castle with stunning views, uniquely luxurious rooms, authentic Tuscan cuisine, and the personal attention of its gracious hosts.

Castello di Vicarello is a small 12th century castle perfectly sited on a hilltop in Tuscany, Italy. It has only 7 rooms. Guests who are lucky enough to stay at the castle will be treated to and share in an historic and soulful journey by owners, Aurora and Carlo Baccheschi Berti. The Bertis are credited rescued and restored this Tuscan architectural antique. Where possible, every effort was made to “leave the history alone”, and that is exactly what they did. Many 12th century features, such as stone flooring, brick and rubble masonry, and other architectural elements, can be seen throughout the castle. Everything about Castello di Vicarello is special; it is a perfect romantic escape.

The guest rooms are situated either in the main castle or in early outbuildings. The room types and sizes vary from a one-room suite to a two-story cottage with full kitchen. Each room is well appointed and his its own distinct personality. Furnishings include both antique and contemporary pieces, and artifacts an object d’art from the personal collections of the owners. Accessories and subtle details reflect the life experiences and travels of the Bertis, who spent many years living outside of their Italy. Views from the guest rooms overlook the courtyard, gardens and Tuscan hills.

The dining experience at Castello di Vicarello is intended to be shared with other guests and the kitchen is “always open.”  Guests are welcome to take a last-minute course in Tuscan cuisine before dinner or simply observe the preparations. The Castello grows its own vegetables and produces organic red wines from its relatively new vineyards.

The Spa at Castello di Vicarello offers holistic and traditional Eastern-inspired treatments in a secluded private setting. The Spa is situated in a specially-built, wood and glass structure that is both modern and tranquil.

The Castello di Vicarello is a stunning choice as a honeymoon destination. The castle’s hilltop setting is also perfect for a wedding and reception. Full on-site catering and event support can be provided.
