A couple of passionate art collectors give back to the community in a big way in their first 21c Museum Hotel, which really is a "museum with rooms."

21c Hotels is the creation of Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson, who wanted to express their passion for art by sharing it with their local community. What better way to do that than by bringing their collection to “main street,” in this case, West Main Street, Louisville, Kentucky. They saved a group of 19^th century tobacco buildings and transformed them into the first of the 21c Museum Hotels, opening in 2006. This is not another hotel with artwork; rather it is a real  “museum with rooms.”  The greatest amenity, of course, is the modern art that fills this every space in this boutique hotel, including the guest rooms.

West Main Street, Louisville, has been revitalized and enriched by this unique development. The visual transformation of these charming masonry buildings into a center for local culture is to the credit of New York-based architects Deborah Berke + Partners. Berke, an award-winning architect, is an integral team member in the development of the 21c brand, and her designs are both contemporary, welcoming, and approachable.

The Louisville 21c offers 90 guest rooms and suites, each in a creative, contemporary style, and each highlighted with original artwork. Some rooms feature original brick walls, tall windows, and offer views either to West Main Street or to a central atrium. Yes, 21c has a penthouse apartment, with over 1,300 square feet of art-filled splendor and an even larger private garden terrace.

A continuous rotation of dramatic original art are the extra guest at the table at the award-winning Proof on Main. Proof on Main, voted Best New Restaurant by Esquire Magazine, offers locally-sourced seasonal menus created by Levon Wallace, Executive Chef, and Manager Rachel Cutler. Proof Bar offers, of course, the local favorite with over 50 Kentucky bourbons, as well as a varied international wine list that, like the artwork collection, represents small independent producers as well as world acclaimed vineyards.

Proof on Main is located adjacent to the 21c Museum Hotel and offers over 9,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and the artwork alone is certain to keep your attendees and guests engaged.

There are now three hotels under the 21c banner, each contiguous with an art museum that is free and open to the public every day of the year. The name 21c is for the 21^st century artists, both aspiring and world-class, whose works grace every available wall space. The “dynamic duo” of Brown and Wilson will be developing additional 21c hotels in the years to come.
