The same precision engineering and technological savvy that is synonymous with BMW extends to their museum and BMW Welt that celebrate the car that everyone loves.
BMW needs no introduction. They take automaking seriously, and they take the museums of their history seriously. There are now two distinctive buildings that celebrate the ongoing legacy of the “ultimate driving machine” — including the original BMW Museum which presents the history and evolution of BMW. BMW invites you to visit this truly state-of-the-art cultural destination in Munich, which shows all innovations and new models of the brand BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. They especially invite you to experience the “World of BMW” (BMW Welt) as an unforgettable setting for your corporate or social event.
The BMW Museum debuted in 1972 and was ideally positioned adjacent to the Olympic Park in Munich. The museum was designed by Viennese architect Karl Schwanzer and consists of a raised, circular building section with a flat rooftop, referred to as “the Bowl.” If you happen to be flying over the museum, you will recognize the famous and now supersized blue and black BMW logo. The circulation paths between and around the galleries of the museum emphasize movement and a continuous energy. BMW’s headquarters, a high-rise clover-shaped building, occupies an adjacent site.
In 2008, the BMW Museum underwent a complete restoration. The interiors are striking, ultra-contemporary, and incorporate the latest technologies in exhibits and interactive displays and lighting. It is a spectacular transformation, and the museum is as appealing today as it was when it debuted over 40 years ago. There are several featured spaces in the BMW Museum that can accommodate private events such as seminars, corporate receptions and product launches. The BMW Bowl is equipped with video screens that can provide 360-degree customized views on its surrounding walls. The heart of the BMW Museum is the BMW Square, a large exhibition space that offers high-tech media displays utilizing the powerful illumination of LED lighting technology. BMW refers to this as “mediatecture.” We get it.
The BMW Welt building, completed in 2007, is a multi-purpose facility that serves as a delivery center for new BMWs as well as an exhibition hall and event venue. The award-winning building was designed by architects Coop Himmelblau and incorporates major features of sustainable design including solar electrical panels on the rooftop and energy-efficient LED lighting.
The extent of flexibility of the event spaces in the BMW Welt is hard to beat. Since Autumn of 2012, BMW Group and its brands are combined in the BMW Welt and create a highly emotional brand world which creates a unique setting for every event.
The multi-functional Auditorium with its spacious foyer continually reinvents itself to meet the demands of many different events for up to 700 people. It can quickly be converted from a flat banquet hall into a movie theater with stepped seating. The stunning architecture of the Double Cone is the ideal setting for an inviting evening occasion as the conclusion to an event. The meeting rooms in the Business Center are filled with natural daylight and are equipped with the latest communications technology. The Business Club includes a boardroom that overlooks the BMW-filled distribution hall, as it should!
BMW has established a dedicated team, the BMW Welt Event Forum, to assist you in the planning, design, and production of your event at both the BMW Museum and the BMW Welt.
