The quintessential classic French hotel, the exceptional dining experience of Alain Ducasse, and the Dior Institut, all at your doorstep.
The Plaza Athenee opened its doors in 1913 and was considered one of the finest hotels in Paris. Now in its 100 year, the Plaza Athenee still defines French glamour par excellence.
Designed by architect Charles Lefevre, the Plaza Athenee, with its luxurious appointments and extensive detail, was considered a “palace” hotel by the French hospitality industry. It enjoyed a prime address on Avenue Montaigne near local theaters it quickly attracted local talent in music, drama and literature. And then fashion. In 1947 the great house of Christian Dior debuted up the street. This couldn’t have been better news for the Plaza Athenee. The hotel was perfectly situated in what was now the heart of the cultures of haute couture and the arts. The rest really is history.
The Plaza Athenee offers 146 rooms and 45 suites, each of which is exquisite. The style is primarily of the highly ornate Louis XVI period, and features the highest quality furnishings, fabrics and appointments. There are two floors of guest rooms designed in the Art Deco Period which was a la mode during the early 20th century. The Signature Suites offer a variety of period designs, all worthy of an award. The Eiffel Suite Art Deco Suite has possibly the most perfectly framed view of the Eiffel Tower. Other standout suites include the Royal Suite, the Plaza Athenee Suite, and the Eiffel Suite Classic.
In 2001 renowned Chef Alain Ducasse came to the Plaza Athenee, where he now oversees all dining operations of the hotel. His signature restaurant Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athenee has been awarded 3 Michelin Stars continuously since his hotel debut. Casual bistro dining is offered in the Relais Plaza, cast in an upscale, urban French setting. Afternoon tea, cocktails, and one-on-one meetings can be conducted throughout the day in the historic Gallerie des Gobelins. It is difficult to walk through this masterful space without wanting to stop and spend some time. The sexy European Bar du Plaza Athenee, designed by the one-and-only Patrick Joulin, is a visual and tactile experience featuring an illuminated tinted-glass bar and retro-classic leather stools.
Social celebrations and business meetings can be held in a variety of settings, featuring the hotel’s classic historic salons and the recently opened Cellar, boasting a wine collection of over 35,000 bottles. All catering is prepared under Ducasse’s direction.
The Dior Institut debuted at the Plaza Athenee in 2008. It offers an internationally- acclaimed beauty program in an unforgettable, classic French setting epitomizing everything Dior.
