A rare and inspired Prague destination, where the architecture, spanning five distinctive centuries, is purposefully honored with modern art and interiors.
Like history and the architecture that defines it? Go to Prague. Like many design periods and styles but can’t choose just one? Go to Prague. Even better, sleep in Prague and you’ll be sleeping in a museum of architectural history – at Augustine, a Luxury Collection Hotel.
Augustine is named after the 13th century, still functioning, Augustinian St. Thomas Monastery in which it is partially located. It enjoys a perfect setting in the heart of historic Prague, an Eastern European city with a rich and well-preserved architectural history. The Augustine is comprised of several buildings spanning 500 years from the 13th century to the 18th century.
There are 101 guest rooms, including 16 suites, overlooking private courtyards, the monastery chapel, or nearby Prague Castle. Exclusively-brewed beer and Czech tapas are served in the hotel’s cellar bar, appropriately located in the former brewery of the monastery. A private library in the monastery is available for guests.
One of the major architectural highlights of Augustine is the award-winning Refectory Bar. This historic space was once the monastery refectory and high vaulted ceilings with delicate, Baroque, painted frescoes.
All-day dining is provided in the Augustine Restaurant, located in a glass-enclosed courtyard of the monastery. Executive Chef Marek Fichtner leads the dining experience with pre-fix and a la carte menus that are as richly detailed and varied as the City’s visual feasts.
The hotel’s unique Augustine Spa features: a Hammam, a Turkish steam room; treatment recipes inspired by the ancient order of monks of the monastery; and a peaceful and holistic environment. How extraordinary that it also has the distinction of being part of a UNESCO-recognized monastery.
There are several meeting and event spaces ranging from an intimate private dining room to a grand 200-seat ballroom. Outdoor receptions can be held in the historic courtyards between the hotel’s buildings. Augustine offers free WiFi throughout.
The hotel’s location is ideal for visiting some of Prague’s famous historic sites, including Prague Castle, Wallenstein Garden, and the Charles Bridge. Prague’s Historic Center is registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List, with well preserved examples of architecture spanning the City’s 1,100-year history. There really is something for everyone.
